After the Rain

Acrylic Painting 17.5" x 23"

After the Rain explores two of my obsessions: water droplets and color theory. I love color theory because it reveals how the human eye interprets color. What we see as dark red is often created by mixing green or dark violet into the paint--tones our eyes perceive as a red hue.

After the Rain captures a poppy in Creede, Colorado, where rain transforms petals and buds into a luminous expression of water, texture and color. Painted at an intimate scale, each water droplet becomes an exquisite lens--reflecting and refracting a little world of its own.
